What to Expect

Visiting a new church can be intimidating.  Especially not knowing what to expect.  Most people have a lot of questions:  Is there stuff for my kids?  What should I wear?  What are services like?

Great questions.  Here is some information that should help:

Q:  When and where are services?

A:  We have one worship service at 10 AM.  We meet at the Prairie Street Brewhouse (200 Prairie Street Rockford, IL 61107) which is right on the Rock River in downtown Rockford.  Feel free to come a few minutes early for a good cup of coffee.

Q:  What are the services like?

A:  Simple and meaningful.  We have a few great musicians that lead us in worship. We allow time for prayer.   We have a handful of pastors that teach the scriptures in relevant and meaningful ways.  Every week we celebrate communion together.  We sing and worship some more.  And then we are sent back out into the world to “be the church.”

Q: What about my kids?

A:  We have a nursery available for kids 0-6. (All of service)

Grade school kids (6-11) begin in worship with us.  Before the sermon, they are sent to Children’s Church for their own time of age-appropriate teaching.  After the sermon, they rejoin us for communion, worship, prayer, and to be sent back out into the world to live as salt and light.

We think kids are just as much part of the church as adults.  Jesus welcomed kids into his presence, and so do we!

Q: How should I dress?

A: Come as you are.  Our atmosphere is pretty casual.
